1.2. Polish-austrian-italian discussion forum TRIALOG
UE

This series of events aims at the exchange of ideas and experiences among scholars from Austria, Italy and Poland. Initiated in 2020, the discussion series will address the current world situation, current issues in the academic milieu, and the impact of COVID-19 on a number of areas of life - for example, universities, public discourse, the future of the world of work, or new forms of democracy (digital democracy).

1.3. Project presentations: Young researchers take the Lead

is a project presenting fellows of the Lanckoroński Foundation who have received funding for a scientific stay at our center in Vienna.

Every year the Lanckoroński Foundation awards residency fellowships in Vienna to five young researchers whose research interests are in the field of humanities, especially the history and art history of Poland until 1945. Year after year they are hosted by the Scientific Center to conduct research in archives, museums, etc. in Vienna. In our series "Young Researchers take the Lead" we introduce you to the fellows of the Lanckoroński Foundation and their research projects.

2. More events

2.1. Summer Festival of Science
The Summer Festival of Science was held on the 28th Augst 2021.
We had the pleasure to welcome in Vienna scientists from the Copernicus Science Center in Warsaw and from the Austrian Law School of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow.
The evening was crowned by a concert of classical music performed by the Viennese musicians Endre Stankowsky and Prof. Rudolf Leopold.

2.2. Conferences:

2.2.1. 6th IAHR Europe Congress
15 - 18 February 2021
The largest European congress on water issues took place under the motto "Hydro-environment research and engineering. No frames, no borders".
The official opening ceremony was attended by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Jerzy Duszyński, President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and Univ.-Prof. Dr. Michał Zasada, Rector of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.

2.2.2. Symposium:
"Das »Dreiecksverhältnis« zwischen Polen, Osmanen und Habsburgern"
The symposium was held on November 5, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Museum of Military History in Vienna.

4. Panel discussions:
4.1. Ist eine ehrliche Vergangenheitsbewältigung Voraussetzung für eine gute Zukunft? 
40 Jahre danach – die Verhängung des Kriegsrechts in Polen und dessen Folgen für die Gegenwart”

This panel discussion took place on December 13, 2021.
After the introductory lecture by lawyer Paweł Kuglarz, Dr. Emil Brix, Director of the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna, Dr. Erhard Busek, retired Vice-Chancellor, journalist Otmar Lahodynsky, lawyer Paweł Kuglarz and Prof. Dr. Arkadiusz Radwan discussed this topic. The discussion was moderated by journalist Dr. Helmut Brandstätter.

5. Film presentations:
5.1. Vergessen. Die Geschichte der Krakauer Schule der Ökonomie
This film presentation took place on September 16, 2021 in the presence of the film's director Dr. Marcin Chmielowski, who also gave the introductory lecture to the film.
The film showed the history of the Krakow School of Economics and the life and scientific work of three important Polish liberal economists Adam Heydel, Ferdynand Zweig and Adam Krzyżanowski.

6. Lectures:

6.1. Reinhard Gehlen und sein Bericht über den polnischen Widerstand
was the title of the lecture by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Jan Rydel (Pedagogical University of Krakow), which took place online on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, 6:30 pm. The co-lecture was given by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Christoph Augustynowicz (University of Vienna). This lecture evening was organized by the Scientific Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Vienna in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Austria and the University of Vienna.
