The aim of the project is to edit the extensive hand-written estate of Count Karl Lanckoroński (1848-1933) in the Austrian National Library in Vienna and to make it accessible for further research. Within the framework of this project the entire heritage will be registered and recorded in a database. Part of these materials, i.e. selected diaries of his journeys and scientific expeditions (i.e. to Asia Minor and to Italy) as well as selected parts of his correspondence (with Max Dvorak and William Bode), will be published. The creation of a database and the publication of the correspondence in the original language and in Polish will enable the composition of a comprehensive biography of Karol Lanckoroński as well as comparative research in the fields of political, cultural and scientific life in the Habsburg monarchy at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century.
The project is funded within the framework of the national program for the promotion of Humanities of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland for the period 2012-2015 (Contract No. 0043/NPRH2/H11/81/2012).
