Volumes 5 and 6 of the Yearbook of the Scientific Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Vienna, published in 2014 and 2015, present seven selected correspondence partners of Karl Lanckoroński and the findings of the scientific processing of the letters they sent to Lanckoroński. After the respective analysis, the corresponding letters can be read with orthography and punctuation left in original.
The analyses by Aleksandra Szymanowicz-Hren and Joanna Winiewicz-Wolska focus on letters by important architects and visual artists who had a significant impact on the cityscape of Vienna.
Aleksandra Szymanowicz-Hren presents the letters of Friedrich Ohmann, Oskar Schimkowitz, and Rudolf von Weyr to Lanckoroński, while Joanna Winiewicz-Wolska subjects the letters of Ludwig Hans Fischer, Joseph Maria Olbrich, Caspar Zumbusch, and Wilhelm von Bode (the latter in Volume 6) to a more detailed analysis.
A variety of topics come up in these letters: they allow us to witness important urban planning and architectural decisions in the last decades of the Danube monarchy. We learn how far-reaching the influence of Karl Count Lanckoroński was in the design of Vienna and the buildings of the Ringstrasse era, or Historicism, which are now a natural part of the cityscape: The Maria Theresa Monument by Caspar von Zumbusch on the green space between the Museum of Art History and the Museum of Natural History in Vienna, the Monument to Empress Elisabeth by Hans Bitterlich and Friedrich Ohmann in Vienna's Volksgarten, and the relief on St. Peter's Church in Vienna by Rudolf von Weyr - Lanckoroński was formally and informally involved in all of these decisions, and he was in active contact with the respective artists.
